Aiding Tsunami Victims
With the death toll surpassing 150,000, the Tsunami in Asia is one the greatest disasters of recent history. The danger of disease and famine among survivors is significant and the rebuilding process will take years.
What can be done from afar to help the Tsunami victims? First, the value of prayer cannot be overestimated - see the Messy Christian's virtual prayer room to be informed about how to pray for and with those who are suffering. Second, consider partnering with a ministry by giving your time or money. Stacy Harp at MediaSoul has a post listing Christian organizations and ministries that are involved in Tsunami relief efforts. To her list I'll add:
Mission to the World - the ministry of the Presbyterian Church in America (HT: Wittenberg Gate)
Samaritan's Purse (HT: the Evangelical Outpost who lists several other excellent relief organizations).
Like the ministries Stacy lists, these are also members of ECFA.
Finally, I highly recommend participating in World Relief Day, a call to Bloggers by Captain Ed:
Let's show our friends in Asia that they can count on us to lift them out of danger and destruction, and show the power of the individual to change the world for the better. On behalf of the First Mate and I, I offer you our deepest gratitude.
Update: Chris Short is compiling a list of relief organizations.
