Cheney on Morality and Freedom
"Lynne and I have a gay daughter, so it's an issue our family is very familiar with," Cheney told an audience that included his daughter. "With the respect to the question of relationships, my general view is freedom means freedom for everyone. ... People ought to be free to enter into any kind of relationship they want to...." (Associated Press Story, BBC)
Vice President Chenney's statement made me recall parallels from the Bible in which men did what ever they wanted:
In those days there was no king in Israel; every man did what was right in his own eyes. - Judges 17:6God's condemnation was upon Israel because of their moral relativism and disregard for the truth of God's Law. VP Chenney's statements, while "moderate", reveal the same profound moral relativism that is condemned in this passage.
God is incredibly gracious - words cannot describe the gift of salvation through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ who died for our sins. To comprehend His grace (favor to those deserving condemnation) one has to understand that God is not a moral relativist and is diametrically opposed to the Vice Presidents assertion:
Jesus came to save sinners and preached repentance (Matt. 4:17) to them; for by the grace of God (Eph. 2:8,9) "whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:13, Joel 2:32). Want to know more? Click Here
