Communion and Politicians
A top Vatican cardinal has publicly stated that priests should deny Communion to Catholic politicians who support abortion rights, "but he stopped short of saying whether it was right for John Kerry to receive Communion"(story).
Meanwhile, "Democrat John Kerry was shifting his attention to women voters, underscoring his support for abortion rights days before tens of thousands of people stream into the nation's capital for a women's rights rally." (story).
I don't think it is that hard to connect the dots. Of course Kerry, like many politicians, has said he "keeps his religion separate from his public life." What he means, is that his religion has no bearing on his life, morals or ethics. I have to wonder what is the purpose of religion in Kerry's life? Acquiring endorsements, obtaining voter support, ...
