Father Arrested as School Promotes Morally Bankrupt Agenda

whoisafamily.jpgMichelle Malkin writes about the arrest of a kindergarten student's father following his concern about the text, "Who's in a Family?," The children’s book was part of a "diversity" reading bag aimed at teaching preschoolers about "multicultural contemporary family units" including nuclear, intergenerational, mixed-race, and lesbian and gay arrangements.

The father's concern, articulated in a series of emails to the school, is that homosexual union and marriage are promoted as a morally acceptable ideal, a world and life view that he and his wife oppose. Consequently, he insisted that the school notify him prior to teaching his children about homosexuality. Among the school principal’s replies is the statement,

"I have confirmed with our Assistant Superintendent and our Director of Health Education that discussion of differing families, including gay-headed families, is not included in the parental notification policy."
A meeting was set-up at which the father asserted the he should be notified prior to the school teaching his children about homosexuality. In fact, he refused to leave without such assurances. To make a long story short, the father was arrested and spent a night in jail.

The incident is provoking for numerous reasons. One of the foremost is that the government, through its educational system, has asserted its ethical authority over the beliefs of its citizens.

For many, this is nothing new. Perhaps others will see that the situation represents the tip of an aging iceberg that threatens the hearts and minds of our children.

Moral judgements about anything, including marriage and family, require a standard of ethics which establishes in the minds of teachers, and in their lesson plans, the meaning of justice and righteousness and the ultimate concerns of our culture.

Every standard has a source that is the ultimate authority and the foundation of truth. Modern humanism, by faith, puts the state in the place supremacy and promotes it aggressively in opposition to all other religions.

Christian parents are concerned about the promotion of homosexual marriage in the classrooms of their children, and they should be. However, this latest controversy reveals something much worse: the ethical bankruptcy of the school system, the forcible indoctrination of students and the illegitimate acceptance of the government as the source ethical truth.

In California 6th grade history curriculum, A Message of Ancient Days by Houghton Mifflin Social Studies Company, the definition of "family" already includes "alternative" category:

"What is a family? In many societies, members of a family are related people, but in some societies the term applies to unrelated people brought together by common bonds,... for example, alternative families consist of individuals who live together for economic, political, social, or religious reasons. ... Workers who live togethers in Israel on a farm called a Kihbbuts".

So homosexual marriage by this definition is good.
