FBI Interviews Man Over Cockpit Laser Incident

Michelle Malkin has written about the bizzare reports of laser beams entering airplane cockpits during landing approaches [more from CNN]. Apparently powerful lasers are available that could potentially interfere with a pilot's vision or even lead to blindness (check out this picture). A fairly extensive background and timeline can be found here.

Now it appears the FBI has a suspect in at least one of the incidents:

Law enforcement officers were questioning a Parsippany, New Jersey, man who they say may have pointed a laser beam at an airborne police helicopter Friday night and a Cessna aircraft two nights before, said a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. - more from CNN
I would suspect that locating the vicinity in which the laser was used from would be relatively easy given the known position and angle of the plane, the location of the jet's cockpit window and a point within the cockpit that was struck by the laser's beam. It will be interesting to hear exactly how this individual was located if he is indeed connected to the crime.

More from the Associated Press:

A laser beam was aimed at a Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police helicopter on Friday as it flew over an area where a similar incident occurred earlier this week, the authorities said.
