Hang On Terri! Help is on the Way
After a dramatic weekend of numerous ups and downs, the congress passed a bill that could save Terri Schiavo's life... here is the roll call.
The Miami Herald Reports,
President Bush stood ready at the White House, lawyers stood ready at a Florida courthouse and nurses stood ready at Terri Schiavo's bedside as Congress early today approved a bill that could prolong her life. And, Bush did sign the bill into law:The climactic vote ended in the House of Representatives at 12:32 a.m., and the measure was swiftly sent to Bush, who said he would sign it
.
The Schindler family responded:
President Bush signed emergency legislation sent to him by Congress early Monday to allow Terri Schiavo's parents ask a federal judge to prolong their daughter's life, capping days of emotional debate over who should decide life and death."In cases like this one, where there are serious questions and substantial doubts, our society, our laws and our courts should have a presumption in favor of life," Bush said in a statement after signing the bill.

"We are very, very, very thankful to cross this bridge. And we are very hopeful that the federal courts will follow the will of Congress and save my sister's life," said Suzanne Carr, Terri Schiavo's sister. The next step is to get Terri's feeding tube put back into place which I'm told could happen early Monday morning following.
