Kerry Pulls Out of Arizona

According to the AZ Republic, Sen. John Kerry's campaign scrapped plans for television advertising in the state Wednesday, prompting Republicans to declare "it's over" for the Democratic candidate in Arizona. Democrats continue to maintain that Kerry is doing well in the state. Doug Wilson, state director of the campaign, said, "Our ground game is strong. People increasingly are paying attention to us. It's starting to take hold." Ok, why pull ads out of a battleground state when you are doing so well? The answer is fairly obvious. In a notable post, Paterico comments,

There you have it: a sixteen-point lead for Bush in Arizona means the state is "in play" for Kerry, while a fifteen-point lead for Kerry in California means the state is "all but locked down" for Kerry.
