Miers' Evangelical Record
There are numerous blogs emphasizing Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers' evangelical track record and the New York Times has published a summary of her conversion. I'm encouraged but not satisfied - in fact, deep down I have strange feeling about the nomination. Why? Perhaps it is because the evangelical church has made itself largely irrelevant to a potential Supreme Court Justice by ignoring the depth of Biblical truth in favor of more "palatable" spiritual junkfood. Joe Carter comments,
...if Miers is appointed to the bench and refuses to overturn Roe we will have only ourselves to blame. If after spending a quarter of a century in the church, a Christian woman can uphold the most unjust ruling since Dred Scott, then we have failed as a church.
There is a lot more that could be said but Matt at Stones Cry Out cuts to the chase with two words for those who support Harriet Miers simply because she's an evangelical: Jimmy Carter.

You're right to have a creepy feeling about the nomination.
There is a strong case by contradiction that Miers is not pro-life judicially speaking and also a very strong empirical case that she is not.
Here is an analysis that (especially if you check out the links) is a slam dunk (better than Tenet's): Birds of a Feather
