National Women's Group Shares Pain, Regret Over Abortions

Previously I wrote about the pain children feel during abortions [here and here] - this should be obvious. A national women's group is now being vocal about the post-traumatic pain experienced by women who have had abortions.

A national campaign of women who have been hurt by abortion and want to share the pain and regret they feel about their decisions is making its way to several states during the month of September. More than 1,000 women have joined the Silent No More Awareness Campaign to share about abortion's emotional, spiritual and physical consequences. Jennifer O'Neil, an actress and longtime Cover Girl model who starred in the hit movie "Summer of '42," was coerced into having an abortion and is the campaign's spokeswoman. "Sharing how my faith and the knowledge of God's truth brought me forgiveness, healing and closure after years of pain and regret is an awesome privilege," O'Neil said. "We are the voice that hasn't been heard," said Georgette Forney, co-founder of the post-abortion group. "There is a lot of talk about rights and choice, but very little attention is given to women who have abortions," said Forney, who had an abortion at the age of 16. [more]
