On Being a Christian
Being a Christian is more than identifying yourself with a particular religion or affirming a certain value system. Being a Christian means you have embraced what the Bible says about God, mankind, and salvation. Consider the following truth found in Scripture. - La Shawn Barber [also, see Adrian Warnock's note]
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Rom. 10:9

Sorry, but both of these defintions are for evangelical Christians...lots of Catholic and orthodox Christians would agree but feel the definitions are not quite correct...both assume an intellectual action (affirming Jesus is lord, affirming the bible says everything)...
But how we relate to the Lord is more complicated than such simple formulas...
For example, if we say Lord Lord will we enter the kingdom?
And if only those who "know" and "affirm" Jesus go to heaven, then why in describing the last judgement does Christ say "when you did this to the least of my brethren you did it for me" and take them to heaven?
