Pre-Born Protected by Law
In an applaudable decision, a jury in Milwaukee County convicted a man under Wisconsin's fetal homicide law for the murder of a pre-born child.
The state of U.S. law may seem irrational when considering that abortion remains legal when a child is not wanted but when a pre-born child is wanted the ending of his or her life is homicide. However, the existence of these seemingly illogical laws is consistent with a society that views man as the definer of life.
Who decides when an individual is not valuable or when a life is not worth protecting? Who decides when a life is no longer worth sustaining? Who decides what is life? The U.S. Supreme Court answered these questions in 1973 by granting men and women the power to determine the value of their pre-born child. At this point the denigration of human life began and will continue, if left unchecked, into all areas of human "life".
The Bible answers these questions differently by revealing that God is the author of life. On this basis, all life has inherent value that is protected by the commandment "thou shalt not kill."
