Separation of Church and State
The Alliance Defense Fund has an excellent summary regarding the "fictional" constitutional separation of church and state. The statement suggests that America was founded on the pursuit of religious liberty, "including the liberty to acknowledge God and to pray in the public square." Since this liberty originates in a higher law (i.e., nature's God), the elimination of God from government undermines the constitutional liberty which is not fictional. Furthermore, the First Amendment only forbids the establishment of national denomination - the God in government. Note also that the Declaration of Independence contains four references to God as do the preambles from all 50 state constitutions. Finally, Thomas Jefferson's "Wall of Separation" is often taken out of context and has been misconstrued will beyond the author's intent.
