State Rules Church in China

The practice of religion is only allowed in China under "state-supervision" and in churches that reject outside sources of leadership. The arrangement places the humanistic government as the ultimate source of authority and power (i.e., god) and those who choose to seek God are often arrested, harassed and tortured for their faith(persecuted).

Although outrageous, it comes as not surprise that seven priests of China’s underground Roman Catholic Church were detained on Wednesday for attending an unauthorized retreat in China’s northern city of Jinzhou, led by Bishop Julius Jia Zhiguo.

See the Voice of the Martyrs for more information about the persecution of Christians in China.
