Terri Schiavo - Action is Needed

St. Petersburg Times -- The dramatic legal battle over the life of a severely disabled woman hinges Tuesday on what, if any, instructions a Florida appeals court gives on when her feeding tube can be removed and her death can begin.

Tomorrow (Feb. 22), at 1 pm est, Terri Schiavo's husband will have the legal ability to withhold food and water from her. Although he claims she is in a vegetative state, Terri recognizes and responds to others and makes attempts to verbally communicate. Twelve medical experts, nurses who cared for her, family members and, recently, a Catholic Priest, confirmed these facts. Health care workers have testified under oath that she uses several words.

Terri is not on life support but does need someone to feed her through a removable tube which experts testify would not be needed if she were given therapy. This assisted feeding is a natural means of preserving life and not a medical act of life support.

Terri is a person with disabilities who thinks and expresses her moods and desires. She is loved by her family and responds to their visits with smiles and laughter.

It is for this reason and much more BlogsforTerri is raising support to place an advertisement in the St. Petersburg Times. The strategy is to bypass the Mainstream Media by communicating through the paper with the largest circulation in Florida (450,000+ paid subscribers).

If you've stopped by blogicus and are supportive of Terri would you consider making a small (or large) contribution? The law of large numbers is on our side and if every person who reads this post gives a little, and asks their friends to give a little, we will easily make our goal. However, as noted above, time is of the essence.

Here are a number of other action items:

  1. Pray for Terri and her family.
  2. Blog - communicate the truth about what is going on and rally support for Terri and the Schindlers.
  3. Visit BlogsforTerri ( http://www.blogsforterri.com) for information and to join the team of blogs for Terri.
  4. Deluge Gov. Jeb Bush with emails and phone calls. He has the power to intervene. Here is his contact information:

    Governor Jeb Bush

    850 / 488-4441
    850 / 487-0801 (fax)

  5. Support HB701(click here).

  6. Important - Bypass the Mainstream Media - pledge support a paid advertisement in the St. Petersburg Tribune to inform its 450,000 paid subscribers about what is really happening to Terri. [http://www.blogsforterri.com/pledge.php]

There is also a special aggregator that displays only posts about Terri Schiavo. You can see what the 200+ members of pro-life blogs are saying here.

Please sign a petition to ask President Bush to save Terri Schiavo. Since the report in the Empire Journal saying that Judge Greer had issued a stay until after a hearing turned out to be untrue, a request to the President of the United States would seem to be "the last straw."

Since Terri proved that she wants to live by actually rising from her chair and standing for a few moments when an attorney told her that she would die if she didn't stand up, this is no time for her supporters to give up.

Please sign the petition at http://www.ipetitions.com/campaigns/PresPardon and give Terri what may be her last chance to live.

Our wedding vows state, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer until death do us part. He has the richer part, and is deeming it his place to part them by death.
If the reason he has, for collecting her money, Who's paying this money. Will he get it if they find out, her life could have been saved?
not a day goes by that I don't pray to God that He intervenes, and my prayers are being answered. Look at how MANY people are standing in the gap. It is written, My people don't have because they don't ask." Let's continue asking God to heal her.
Michael Schaivo should be ordered to explain to his wife, why he is doing what he is, and stay with her until she dies, then he should have to be the one who digs her grave and buries her.
What is our nation coming to? If you don't want to be married? It's okay to make sure your spouse " falls down mysteriously" and then make sure there is a living will, saying no heroic measures? So, it's okay to kill our spouses so we can collect their $??? Lacy Peterson is dead, Scott told his sister the people were looking in the wrong place... He's on death row... Where is Michael Schaivo... Oh yeah, living with his common law wife and two children, He's basically, no longer her husband. Were he by her side, changing her depends, and wiping her tears, all these years, his behavior would be more acceptable.
I have a sibling who was in a vegitative state for 8 years, Had we planned on taking care of a brain injured family member for 12 yrs? No, but we all did. What is this man really fearful of? Will she tell us why she suddenly fell down? as was reported on national news?
Let us all pray for everyone in this situation.
Yes even the judge making the decision. Terri's life depends on it. The effective fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much...
