Terrorism and Christian Action
In 1993 terrorists from the APLA entered a large evangelical church in Cape Town, South Africa and began an attack with AK-47s and hand grenades. Eleven people were killed during the massacre and over 50 were seriously injured. One member of the congregation, Charl van Wyk, was carrying a small revolver at the time and shot back, wounding one of the attackers and causing terrorists to flee. Charl has written a book about defensive action and is present the director of African Christian Action.
This past weekend I had the opportunity to hear Charl van Wyk speak in person about this experience and a more recent invitation he received to speak at a conference sponsored by the terrorists responsible for the attack. The story is amazing and worth reading.
