The Case of the Biased Killian-Memo Poll

Over the past weeks I’ve written several posts about the CBS debacle involving forged memos and Dan Rather. For those interested, I created a poll with the following question and answers:

CBS’ Killian Memos Are

  1. Fake

  2. True

  3. Who Cares

  4. Authentic

  5. I don’t know

With great amusement I watched as 95% of the over 200 voters selected “fake” while the few remaining were mostly “Who Cares”. Only one person said they were “true” and one other “authentic.” However, my statistical analysis (and fun) has been cut short by a joker who voted 200 times in the “true” category. I think it was either Bill Burkett or Dan Rather (anyone have their IP addresses?) although Mary Mapes is a very strong candidate as well. At any rate, “Fake” and “True” are running neck and neck and remind me of CBS’ belief that their story about the president is fake but true.
