The Number of Blog Readers is Large and Growing

Hyscience aggregates a variety of source to conclude: The number of blog readers is large and is growing significantly, they are 27% of internet users or about 32 million people, and that number represents about a 58% increase in 9 months.

See Jeff Jarvis' post and in particular the plot of blog readership versus time. Jarvis quotes from a Pew Survey which begins,

Blog readership shoots up 58% in 2004. 6 million Americans get news and information fed to them through RSS aggregators. But 62% of online Americans do not know what a blog is

Powerline's Hindrocket, while skeptical of some estimates of blog readership, concludes, "So the bottom line is, there is plenty of room left to grow."

Glenn Reynolds, who also points to the Pew Survey and Jarvis' post, adds, "If nothing else, it should help sell more copies of Hugh Hewitt's book. Is that guy a master of timing, or what?"
