Why Blog for Terri Schiavo?
Late last year, Hugh Hewitt wrote in The Blog,
There was no shared plan of attack among the blogs. There was no coordination between them and their allies in talk radio and a few corners of MSM such as FOX News. There was, however, a network and there was an understanding of what mattered - facts - and a desire for speed and, crucially, a target. The destructive energy of the blogsphere is fierce indeed when focused. While Hugh was writing about the take down of Dan Rather, it is clear that bloggers can make a big difference but it takes many, each independently researching, writing and motivating according to their own convictions.
Bloggers caused enough ruckus to topple someone in Big Media, so let’s see what we can do to save a life. - La Shawn Barber
Not to seem irreverant but just last night a bunch of bloggers were celebrating their power by causing the resignation of a man who said some terrible things, just think if the bloggers could come together and save a life. - TheBandWagon

The importance of RatherGate pales in comparison to saving Terri from a very public and unnecessary death. Let's take the Blogosphere out for a spin and see what we can accomplish: I think we can do great things, starting with Saving Terri. - LifeSteward

Blogs can do a lot of things, but they can't overturn the FL Supreme Court. You'd have to get an amendment.

The Supreme Court refused to hear the case. There are still legislative options that can be pursued in Florida. The first bill by the legislature was overturned by the courts because it was a very specific bill that allowed for a one time stay of a court order. This did supercede the courts' authority. However the legislature can do a wider bill that can either change the criteria that must be matched for feeding tubes are removed or to ban the removal of feeding tubes altogether.
There are still options for Terri!

Schiavo Case: As an RN, I doubt that Michael Schiavo knows what his wife will be going through if her feeding tube is discontinued. She will not die today or tomorrow, but possibly in 2-3 weeks. This is after all her organs start shutting down, her temperature reaches well above 105 degrees, and she literally burns up from the inside out, while suffering multiple strokes.
As a society we treat animals with euthanasia and serial killers with injections, so why isn't Michael Schiavo allowed to walk into her room and shoot her, it would be more humane. I feel very strongly, that Michael Schiavo, if awarded his wishes, should be made by the court system to sit by Terri's bedside 24 hours a day until she dies, observing this heinous act. If I had my way he would not be fed either.

The absolute legal protection provided by Florida and
Federal law concerning witholding water and food from the disabled:
Michael Schiavo can ONLY remove the feeding tube if that act does not
interfere with providing Terri water and food. What Michael did last
time was absolutely illegal and he should be in jail for it, witholding
water and food.
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA),
42 U.S.C. Sections 12101 provides that
necessary and appropriate rehabilitation
services and physical/motor skill therapy
may not be denied a substantially disabled
patient in the United States of America.
Cf 28 CFR, Ch 1, Subpart B, Sect 35.130
States "Nothing in the Act or this part
authorizes the representative or guardian
of an individual with a disability to
decline FOOD, WATER, medical treatment, or
medical services for that individual."

This is about an activist judge, not about the laws on the books. He's not allowing medical records or even testing of Terri which boggles the mind! She hasn't head any rehabilitative therapy for 12 years! I can't understand how this could happen. She's not in a PVS.

But what do you do with a judge who doesn't admit any evidence on Terri's behalf and ignores the laws on the books in order to mandate her murder by starvation/dehydration? Even criminals on death row get legal representation, I don't understand this!

Per Kathy ... "As a society we treat animals with euthanasia and serial killers with injections, so why isn't Michael Schiavo allowed to walk into her room and shoot her, it would be more humane."
Yes, I feel it is cruel to subject a living being to starvation, for whatever reason. Putting obvious emotions aside regarding this case, why is it so wrong to allow human beings the chance to die in dignity, why did our society scapegoat Dr. Jack Kevorkian for supporting this concept and performing euthanasia on willing, competent people. Why is this man in prison, why don't we allow for merciful euthanasia that is as quick and as pain-free as possible - Because we are by nature a cruel, uncaring society who allows the wishes of a few to overrule the majority wish!

This is what we have become. Our society has become so corrupt our courts have legalized the murder of the disabled. For the liberal courts to say Terri Schiavo is a lesser human is labeling everyone with a disability or disabilities as lesser humans without the right to live. Terri Schiavo is just the beginning. Soon we will be "cleansing" our society of the crippled, the blind, and the deaf. But why would they stop there? Concentration camps will sprout up and we will be slaughtering the Christians and the Jews, then the African Americans, then the homosexuals. Liberals are transforming America into Nazi Germany.
We cannot allow these atrocities to begin here and now. We must take action - physical action. If the word of mouth cannot penetrate the walls of evil, then stand up! Battles and wars were fought in the past for human rights. If the courts will not hear us, the empyric beings flying over our heads will. We must fight for our weak, for the weak be just as blessed as we. Abdiel once stood up to Satan and his fallen angels. Won’t Abdiel rise again? And if the earth must wallow in sorrow once more, then allow the blood of God’s soldiers to dress a new beginning – a reformation.

Kathy comments above:
Schiavo Case: As an RN, I doubt that Michael Schiavo knows what his wife will be going through if her feeding tube is discontinued.
Actually Michael Schiavo IS a Registered Nurse and a Respiratory Therapist. I'm sure that got lost in all the pro-life, right-wing propaganda. He also tried to get her in every experimental treatment from 1990 to 1994 with no successful results.
Terri's cerebellum is liquified! It will never recover - unless you want to see about stem cell research for that purpose.
But really this is all a hypocritical debate carried on by heretics, because the people that say "God would want Terri alive" don't seem to realize that Terri was a bulemic who suffered a massive heart attack due to a potassium imbalance.
1) If God wanted Terri to live, why hasn't He healed her since?
2) If God wanted Terri to live, why did she have the potassium imbalance in the first place?
3) If God wanted Terri to live, why did He allow her to be bulemic?
And finally, aren't the doctors who are artificially keeping Terri alive actually mocking God by trying to assume His role in life and death?
But at least this and steroids in baseball have gotten our minds off that nasty war in Iraq where THOUSANDS have died under much less humane conditions than Terri is currently under. Caring about that first would make us realize how misguided and ungodly our country has truly become.

I really can't understand this horrible thing could happen. Michael is living with girlfriend and have two kids. Why doesn't he simply live Terry schiavo alone? Is there anything that he scared of from Terry's recovering? Obviously he is not doing this for his wife as one of his ex-girl friend revealed that even Michael had said in the beginning of Terry's vegitative condition he and his wife hadn't talk about DNR since they were so young back then.
There are some evidences that Michael have been abused his wife's right. Is there any way to remove his guardianship from him?
This is not the matter of 'right to die'. This is the matter of subtle killing. Why all judges can see it? Are they blind?
If Terry has to be died by Michael's request, by ignorant people, he has to sign form that he is not going to get any money related Terry Schiavo's death.

She may have said that she would not have wanted to live this way, but she could have never known that her own husband would allow her to die this way.
